Damien Foundation Who are we ?

  • Our vision

Damien Foundation is a Belgian medical non-profit organisation that works to assist people who have leprosy, tuberculosis or other diseases that particularly affect the most vulnerable communities around the world.

  • Our mission

We actively screen patients, often in the most remote regions on the planet. We help them recover and provide essential socio-economic support for the most vulnerable. We are also involved in scientific research, raising public awareness, fighting against the stigmatisation associated with these diseases, and training local staff.

  • Our strategy

We operate in Belgium, Africa, Asia and Latin America at the request of the authorities of each country. 99% of our staff is local. We act independently and take a long-term approach in our work. Nevertheless, we pass the baton on to the local teams as soon as they have the knowledge and resources needed to meaningfully tackle these diseases.

Together, let’s shape our world !

2020 will certainly have left a lasting mark on our lives and families. Covid-19 has disrupted daily life everywhere around the world. Worldwide, lockdown measures have had a major impact on patients suffering from leprosy, tuberculosis and leishmaniasis.
